~Diikae's Equine Style Meme -> [link]

Well, the drawing took me...not that long. Finding a scanner at a suitable time--two weeks. Mostly laziness or sleeping in. Anyways.

My own style: I actually don't have a style... or then I have too many. Anyways I happened to find an old unicorn drawing from 2004 and painstakingly replicated it for hours to present you this elegant specimen. Oh well. The scribble at the top right is my drawing from today, my first drawing using a tablet btw (no I haven't found out how to fiddle pressure-size settings yet...). This is pretty much how I draw horses when thinking out ideas for pictures, composition, poses, scenes and so on.

Realistic style: best I could do without refs. Not bad altogether. Lena F's style has obviously influenced me a lot.

Chibi style: I had so much :iconflamesplz:FUN:iconflamesplz: with this... ten or so attempts later and my attempts at chibi horses looked like a) MLP b) ripped from aspenglowe c) hairy pillowcases d) darn-ass ugly. Be grateful you got an aspenglowe rip-off :P

MLP style: ok this is the one where I obviously failed. This is the character's original style, inspired by MLP of course but still clearly NOT faithful to any generation MLP style.

The Last Unicorn style: I adored this style as a kid (read: in 2004) and tried to emulate it, failing miserably. In any case, the style and design left their marks, influencing my earliest unicorn drawings and what I think of my "standard unicorn".

Pegasus from Hercules style: this was fun to figure out. It's further stylised than other Disney examples here and is actually pretty pleasing to the eye without Pegasus' colour scheme and silly expressions.

*aspenglowe's style: aspenglowe was the only deviant that came to mind as someone with their own distinct style. Blame me and my short, short history of actually using DA. Anyways I like aspenglowe's style and wanted to give it a try.

Khan from Mulan's style: I've previously liked Khan's looks in the film but as it turned out, it's because of his movement and colours, not because of his facial style.

Elmer Horse Statues style: Oh. My. Goodness. I had never heard of or seen anything like these statues before. They're freakin' ugly with their bulbous features and tiny, empty eyes!

Bullseye from Toy Story 2's style: ...nah. Don't really like this style but *shrug* for the meme's sake...

Altivo from Road to El Dorado's style: this is pretty much THE animated horse style. Bland but works nicely for expressions and with a lively character like Altivo. A gentler soul like Poppy Dream mostly looks like a zombie...

Lena Furberg's 'Mulle' style: I just had to. Perhaps I should have picked a larger pony style from the comic... then again I had no refs for that and Shettie is just too cute. Besides I remember my earlier attempts at a Mulle Shettie failing miserably... so here we are, a few years later... looks good to me.

Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron's style: well now I know why it's so popular. Nice and easy, pretty realistic proportion, and prettier/more "serious" (with the larger eyes and smaller muzzle) than many others.

Morris' style: lordy I could go ON AND ON about how I love Morris' style altogether, then get to how he did horses, and go on for another day.

Horseland' style They do the muzzle differently! \o/ And otherwise... not a fan of this style.

Family Guy's horse style: well. It's an option.

Chariot horses from Prince of Egypt's style: it was tricky giving my character a mane.

Race horses from All Dogs Go to Heaven' style: this made me laugh. At least it's a different approach :3

Cave art style: had fun doing this.

Froufrou from The Aristocats' style: sympathetic little horsey lady. A softer, more organic version of THE animated horse style.

Japanese woodblock print style: this has to be my favourite of them all.

Lena Furberg's "serious" style: better than what I managed to scrape up a few years ago. Still--needs work. At least this time it feels like I can do it one day.
